The Framework: Self Titled 2007 Sublime Media Works

By: Lidia Vila

Right off the bat, The Framework’s self-titled EP is reminiscent of 80s Brit rock, the Manchester Brit pop scene of the early 90s and electro-synth rock borrowing from The Cure, The Smiths, Suede, Pulp and Blur—the list goes on. Although the quintet’s sound isn’t new, there’s something to be said for getting the sound just right; The Framework succeeds in doing just that.

The Framework is Ryan Kash (a.k.a. Chisai Jackson, vocals/guitar), Chris Graham (also of The Chris Graham Band, vocals/guitar), Rayanne (keyboards), Scott Winter (bass) and Tobias Smith (drums). Kash showcases his vocal abilities, switching effortlessly from acoustic singer to full-throttle rock star. This album is a total departure from the acoustic songwriter solo work that either Kash or Graham have previously done.

This six-track EP will no doubt help rocket The Framework to stardom. Don’t be surprised when you start hearing them on the regular media outlets; it’s just a matter of time.
