The I Spies: In the Night 2008 Independent/Factor
By: Pam Nichol
Now that I finally got my hands on the new CD In the Nightby The I Spies, I can say for certain that I am really am fan of this band, there’s no doubt about it. Their live show is stellar and there CD is just amazing in its own right.
Opening this disc with first the track “Talkshow”, you are introduced to what feels like a show or the beginning of a story. It’s a prefect track to draw people into the definite British infused semi dance-y pop/rock stylings that you can hear on this perfect album. It brought me smiles and the happy thoughts that I always get when I listen to my favorite artists/bands from across the pond! It is the prefect introduction into a world where the eye can definitely spy. As the disc continues on, each track keeps together on the same level as the rest, but just builds a little more on each track as you listen along, which creates one amazingly crafted piece of work. “In The Night”, which is personally my favorite track on the disc is just amazing, (well to me that is). There isn’t one thing that I don’t love about this track which is why it is just perfect in every way. Out of all the tracks this one stuck out the most to me and keeps running through my head even after the all the song have played. Ending the disc with “Thump, Thump, Thump” is the best way to end this story, to end this tale, to end this show, to say farewell.
The theme of this album is structured very well. What feels like a story sucks you into it’s world and keeps you until the very last scene. This disc has all the aspects to attract the masses; great sound, solid beats that can bring out the dance, and catchy melodies. What else could you ask for? So, if this quality of CD is what The I Spies can produce as there first full length effort, I definitely can’t wait to see what will come forth in the future.
